I am likely flying out to Perth Monday. There's no spare family car (the brother-in-law's car is six hundred kilometres away) and hiring a car will be difficult without an actual photo licence. Gah.

Date with [livejournal.com profile] nyecamden tomorrow evening. Good.

How to discover shock sites you'd never heard of before: when cleaning dead sites off the server. We have a few more gig now, and will have even more when I archive the deaders who don't yell. I did find [personal profile] arkady's old rat care website, which is now back up.

After too long failing to get fucking CruiseControl working, my boss (who hacked the bastard into function on the previous install, a few years ago) worked out the magical undocumented recipe to beat the build loop into actually running and reporting. The rest of the week, I'll be building build loops and hopefully the new staging zone.

[livejournal.com profile] aster13 has told me in no uncertain terms to go to Reptile on Saturday. So I may actually show. You?

Get an international drivers license (yes, I know you theoretically don't need one in .au normally), should be doable with about 10 minutes time investment at a local motorists club (in .uk). That, a credit card and some other picture ID (eg passport) are then sufficient for car-renting Down Under (BTDT).

I think I even managed to get one over the interwebs a few years ago. Uploaded a photo, paid with a credit card, waited until it turned up in the post. This was through the NZ AA, while I was in the UK (I had a NZ licence but no UK licence), so your motoring club experience may vary, but it's probably worth looking into.

Did you document the magical undocumented recipe?

Quite different from the last recipe? Why, i've never heard of such a thing in my career.

Would you have time before Monday to get to the DVLA?

Just testing to see how annoying it is to post a comment here after clicking on the 'comment there' link on your LJ post.

It is not annoying, hurray! Just one click, and the comment field thing opened without fuss.

(I rarely read stuff through DW).
