Good evening, cruel world. It's been a week of work and domesticity. And Sudoku, suitable for my brain to retreat into in horror. I really haven't done anything in particular.
The younger teenager is finally to be walled up in a local school (apparently quite a good one). This is a Big Win. We should get the older teenager empanelled shortly.
I am currently installing Windows 7 in a VirtualBox. Of course, I have ulterior motives. All the help files seem to call it "Vista." So far it appears to be KDE 4 with a very good version of Wine (and all your memory and CPU and a bit more). The installation is almost as easy as installing most Linuxes. Both my system and the virtual system are all but unusable when it's running, but this laptop does have only 1GB memory. Windows 7 can't see its network at all; I'll install the guest tools when I can be bothered. Others have had somewhat greater pain.
