- NewsTechnica: there's a few.
Today I worked from home, as I now do regularly on Fridays. I also looked after Freda most of the day, because arkady is ill (again). I did however slightly detoxify the house and feed the family. So there.
My work laptop, the hugely powerful and yet constructed from cheese and string Toshiba Portege R600-12Z, finally died — the hard disk connector seems to have come loose, but is so deep inside the unit that it has to go back to Toshiba for them to see if the disk has actually died or just come unplugged. The Portege R600 is complete shit, and no-one should buy one ever for any reason. As a loaner I have a Portege M100, which I have Ubuntu 9.04 on because the video chip (Intel 855) randomly crashes on 9.10 and hangs just after initialisation on 10.04. It also weighs a ton.
I plan to buy secretlondon's old Dell Mini 9 off her. I've wanted a Mini 9 since they came out and didn't stop wanting one when they stopped making them. Also has built-in 3G should I wish to avail myself of it.
Freda is three on Wednesday!
There's lots more to tell and I'll post it as I remember it. We haven't died of Torygeddon Lite as yet, so that's nice.

Date: 2010-05-15 10:50 am (UTC)The plan, such as it is, appears to be to start out in the Dev, assemble people, maybe find somewhere quieter, then possibly go to Slimelight later. If the situation changes and you can make any of that, let me know and I'll update you our location (07791268758). I know C is keen to see you!
