I am in fact still here. Life is dull in journalable ways and exciting in oh hell no ways.

Lotus Notes greeted me with Fucking Papyrus the other week. This is because it does not use the system font, as it claims; no, it uses whatever the last font you installed was.

Still spending too much time being futile on DrunkShoutyScepticsWiki. This is a prize: actually stupider than homeopathy. I will also rot in heck for creating this, for this. The pic is an SVG; I should probably sell it on bags and T-shirts. Give cosmically to the Freda College Fund, hippy scum! Got Baraminology to front page feature, working on doing the same for Cryonics. Citizendium will probably follow.

My daughter continues to be fascinating and brilliant. She is getting good at recognising letters; I strongly recommend BBC CBeebies Alphablocks (as Sesame Street is all but unobtainable in the UK without a physical telly and not that easy with). Her Thomas The Tank Engine snap cards are also useful in this regard, as she will put up with learning letters to play cards with Daddy.

Not going out with nyecamden. Bah. Oh well.

I only really started using it to keep up with announcements of articles for things i value highly and want to know about right away (certain blogs, news, etc) and a few celebs and BNFs who are actually interesting even in small doses (Bad Astronomer, Kevin Smith, Neil Gaiman, et al).


For actual communication with humans, i rank it somewhere between texting and IMs, with about the same expectation of exchange and response, which is to say: not much unless you know the person well, but nice when it happens. DMs count as free incoming texts on some people's cell networks, so it can be convenient.

Hmmmm... I can't help thinking that one of your coworkers knows that Papyrus winds you up. Might I recommend it as the font for (say) the New Age article template on Rational Wiki? Or perhaps we should start a satirical Wiccapedia and wait for the woo to start arriving from the wild from dolphin-snoggers who don't get the joke?
