... they actually got the paper version of the job offer to me. At the Bermondsey address as requested, even, which is performance well above expectations.

The weird bit: they don't check your references until after you've been told you have the job. Or, in my case, until after you've started the job.

It's nice when a company has the attitude that they'll get on with getting things done and will sort out the paperwork in due course. It's not so nice when they have to do things that way.

It'd certainly be interesting if I did actual work for them then they decided they didn't like my references ...

(Though actually the first 3 months is probationary, with 1 week's notice either way, and 1 month's notice either way thereafter.)

You think you'll actually do any work in the first week or so?
There's brainwashing^W induction, getting you in company databases, scrounging together a computer etc.

Besides they've got the probabtion period, normal for the UK, and you'll still be bound by whatever NDA they get you to sign.

The NDA wasn't onerous, and I have no problems with the probationary period. More important is that the cow-orkers appear to be tolerable. If German.
