... they actually got the paper version of the job offer to me. At the Bermondsey address as requested, even, which is performance well above expectations.

The weird bit: they don't check your references until after you've been told you have the job. Or, in my case, until after you've started the job.

It's nice when a company has the attitude that they'll get on with getting things done and will sort out the paperwork in due course. It's not so nice when they have to do things that way.

My sister has been saing "rar" for at least the last ten years, and hasn't been anywhere near London ever.

Not really very goth, either. "Kylie" is just plain not the right name for a goth.

If you can organise them to start _paying_ you before you start the job, then you'll really be set :D
That's quite common to not check references till someone actually gets the job. Checking references can be very time consuming, so why call up everyone's referees, when they can just check the successful applicants?
If your references don't check out, they'll let you know soon enough, and move on to Person B. That, or they weren't going to bother checking them in the first place.
And good luck for Monday.

You think you'll actually do any work in the first week or so?
There's brainwashing^W induction, getting you in company databases, scrounging together a computer etc.

Besides they've got the probabtion period, normal for the UK, and you'll still be bound by whatever NDA they get you to sign.
