Many years ago (from 1985 until 1993), I edited a Perth indie rock fanzine called Party Fears. I've been thinking it would be a nice idea to put up the old issues for posterior's sake[1]. However, I live in London, my old copies are in Perth and I don't have any here.
So, crusty old indie nerds, I'd like your help. If you have copies of the magazine, I would be fantastically happy if you could scan them for me. Do you or a friend have access to a scanner?
The issues of the zine were 1-7, 9-11, 11½, 12-16, 16½, 17, 18 and 18½. 8 didn't exist and 19 never did come out. (What remains of 19 is burnt to a CD-ROM somewhere in a box in Perth; I'm sure I'll get it shipped over some day, along with my old copies of the zine.)
The absolutely ideal thing would be 300dpi 2bpp greyscale TIFFs burnt to a CD-ROM. This may be a bit to ask; if you have the zines and access to a scanner, that'll be of tremendous help in itself.
OCR is a future plan, but that can be done by anyone once I have scans of the pages. Getting those scans is what I'm after right now.
(I have vague dreams of scanning most of what's left of my Australian fanzine collection. If you have such a collection, there's no reason you couldn't do that too. I think the world needs B-Side once more. And Inner City Sound.)
If you can aid in this endeavour, please email me at fun[AT]velvet.net and we'll talk.
Please feel free to forward this message to relevant Australian music lists and forums as appropriate.
