Work: Not employed as yet. Nth interview with many places, desperately waiting for The Call. GIVE ME MONEY.

Freda: continues to be beautiful, smart and utterly charming. She has taken to chasing boys around the playground. Really — she looks for a boy and chases after him then grins at him, while he wonders who this girl is. She also grabs older children and puts them where she thinks they should be standing, while they look utterly confused. We are endeavouring to teach her immaculate politeness so that she is less likely to get killed for this sort of thing.

We'd put in for speech therapy for her ages ago as she was slow learning to talk. She's doing sentences and explanations quite well now. She just needs to pronounce words as having more than one syllable and do consonant sounds other than "b" and "d." Getting there.

Domesticity: We have a school for the older teenager! A sixth form college that does a one-year GCSE specifically for students who've been fucked around by the local authority. How nice that the system includes minor compensation for its systemic failures, sort of. The younger one wants to go to the same college for the two-year GCSE, as her present school is ideally suited to students dumber than rocks but not to ones smarter. She also spent the holidays with her hair dyed bright pink.

Getting out more: Vagabonds on Saturday, pics up. Quietish night out. I actually wore trousers (PVC) rather than a skirt.

Dates with [livejournal.com profile] nyecamden. His finest dessert success so far is Eton Mess, which is basically a strawberry pavlova with cream, mushed up in a pint glass. Also, anything with banana custard. Fantastic stuff.

Wikipedia: "Flagged revisions" was first mooted two or three years ago, then Noam Cohen wrote a jargon-encrusted piece for the New York Times and, since it's August, everyone else jumped on it. I did Radio 2 (Chris Evans), Radio 5 Live, Sky News and Newsnight! With Kevin Anderson from the Guardian, who comprehensively Knows His Shit about this Intarweb thing. So Kirsty Wark said silly things and both her combatants agreed completely with each other and not her ... fun. I must learn to be more animated on telly.

This remains the best and most accurate coverage yet.

I was most impressed by the Newsnight bit (as seen on iPlayer linked). You came across well, as someone putting a rational, balanced position rather than someone attempting to defend the indefensible.

I am happy to hear about Freda's speech improving. Wonderful. The boy chasing is a riot, as well as the moving people where she wants them. lol

I do hope you find a job soon. I'd send money, but I need it, too. :(

No skirt? Unreal. What possessed you to take such measures in your attire?

Pork and apple is a well known combination, so I suppose that bacon would work.

It's just not exactly obvious.
