I was slowly dying in a clinic just outside of LA.

Today I woke up feeling more or less as ill as the past few days. Then I went out in the afternoon to return a DVD and see an ear, nose and throat specialist at Whipps Cross about my snoring and what to do about it. I arrived for my 2:25pm appointment on time, everything was of course SNAFU - apparently a consultant was off ill that day, which doesn't work very well when appointments are made four months in advance - and I finally saw him at 4pm. But in the meantime, the jolly hospital volunteers were handing out free tea, coffee and biscuits to all!

The specialist suspects an allergy; I need to go back in January for an allergy test, then see him again in May. I have Nasonex spray in the meantime. He went to great lengths to convince me that palate surgery to correct snoring is almost entirely snake oil, when it isn't it shows a 50% relapse rate after five years and not to bother under any circumstances.

arkady has been the Best Girlfriend Ever, having come over yesterday to take care of the unwell reddragdiva and redcountess and be disconcertingly vibrant and healthy in our presence. (redcountess is, of course, the Best Wife Ever, having previously held the Best Girlfriend Ever title.) She is sitting in the lounge drawing stuff and making me wish we had a scanner.

Tomorrow redcountess and I have another go at the GP clinic. I suspect they think that, having referred her to the lupus clinic, they need never deal with her again under any circumstances, and never mind that her case is blatantly not getting any medical attention whatsoever. LART LART LART.
