I have been forced at gunpoint (I swear) to stay up and download FreeBSD 5 and install it on the new laptop (to be called pooh). KDE is the size of a friggin' planet. Some stuff isn't behaving. I am so tired.

Tonight we watched the Goodies DVD, which includes all the bits that were cut for Australian children's television.

One bit of advice: if you *must* install kde, *only* select the metaport on the CD. Personally I'd go with windowmaker on a machine like that. Oddly enough, I prefer wm as my main window manager, yet I love all the kde bits like konsole and konqueror. Especially konsole, as I don't have to have 20 different xterms open.

The Goodies were a bit of their time, so there's some slightly uncomfortable things in there - in attitudes to homosexuality, for instance - but I'm surprised the DVD was cut. *shrug*

It was shown at a 5:30 pm timeslot on ABC, the Oz equivalent of BBC, so a lot of the naughtiness was cut out, as we found out when they showed a naked photo of a woman for a few seconds that neither of us remembered ;-)

After having seen what SVT (the Swedish BBC-alike) showed in dedicated kid-shows, on prime kiddie-time, I am surprised small things taht naked women are cut out. How about two chaps and a lass, the chaps dressed in leather, with leather caps (one of them has what looks like leather straps and steel rings as clothes on his upper body) and the lass dressed in a very figure-hugging red skirt cut up to at least the hip bone. I can't recall any whips off-hand, but... And they're performing a little song & dance routine called "The song of O".

I accidentally saw it at Stockholm Central station, sometime 1998-1999, since it was being re-broadcast and they do show the state telly and thinking "!Oh my god! I recall that from when I was 5! But *where* *on* *Earth* did the sexual undertones get through? I can't recall those!"
