Yes, I think summer is thoroughly beating us around the head.
Friday: B-Movie, of course. Photos here and here. I got home to be greeted by a pink-haired goth dolly in PVC straps and my luscious wife having found an outfit. We got a pizza, I got ready in a sensible amount of time and we actually got to Water Rats around a quarter past nine, which I think is a new record.
I must have been unusually relaxed, because I was capable of speech
before finishing my first pint. I must especially praise the Goddesshood of
nisaba — who had not just a cigarette, not just a clove,
but a Gudang Garam to spare. ALL HAIL! It was ridiculously hot in
the pub bit, but they finally opened the middle door by about eleven. By
which time we'd been outside for an hour, meeting and greeting the lovely
people. We left around half past eleven.
The very best bit of the night was that Liz's health has recovered to the point where she was able to go out and see people and enjoy herself. I can't tell you how happy this makes me.
Saturday: Arkady nicked off down the pub with
shadow_jess. Liz and I pottered about then went to the Metropolitan
Bar (Baker Street station) for the dregs of
sparklielizard's
birthday picnic. At which there were apparently many attacks of spring
hormones, drinking in the sun and smoking cloves (or whatever it is these
goth kids smoke). We met the lovely
kixie at last.
Conversations about mortgages and household appliances.
Sunday: I have just returned from visiting Homebase with my beloved. I started the enterprise with full nail polish and finished with none. If Liz ever
dares doubt my love or dedication ... We bought a Metric Shitload of
live action house pr0n: a breeze block for use as a front step, an ironing
board, a summer-weight duvet, some towels, a bin, four wire-spring egg
cups, some curtain wire, two six-way power boards and a spindle of CD-Rs.
_nicolai_ will be landing on the doorstep shortly.
This, by the way, is Liz having gone out three days in a row, and she is still sitting up and perky. This is the girl I fell in love with. (Not that I don't love her ill too!) Here's hoping we just got the "in sickness" out the way early.
