A small number more photos. More tonight. Must take the time to learn that Gimp scripting ... what has worked for you lot with Gimp 1.2.3? Someone else here must use it.

(Yes, Nicky, I'll set up one of the braindead winscanners we have sitting around the house as well and get some older pics up ...)

I'd also like to collect the LJ icons my subjects have made from my shots. Please email me with yours, or a pointer to it.

What are you using Gimp to do to the photos? Just wondering if it's something netpbm can do, 'cos that's designed to be easy to script.

I use imagemagic and bash scripting for most of the stuff I need to automate (which isn't much, admittedly, but still). Seems to work quite nicely.

We've just got Gimp at work and so far colour me unimpressed especially as I can't seem to download photos from the digital camera. I'm not sure if this is Gimp or the network configuration.

Depends on the camera. Is it presenting a TWAIN interface? The TWAIN interface in Gimp is shite (horribly slow) and I do not advise its use - download the photos with the camera app and then apply Gimp.

Bothering to set up the scanner, really! We have a scanner or two sitting around not plugged into anything, and a Windows box of very little other use.

It's a photo editor - the camera must have come with at least something for Windows to actually get the shots off.

Its main advantage over Photoshop is the price difference.

oh, yes he has: see the Melbourne shots, a couple of nice ones of you taken New year's eve 2000-2001, posing against the wall. The hair is impossible to miss!
