W*rk is uh okay I guess so far. Politics with our whiniest user. He's the squeaky wheel and he keeps getting the grease.
PFY is leaving. Today is his last day here. We went down the pub at lunch and had three pints. He's still working for the same company, he's just going back to internal support. He has learnt quite thoroughly that working on a client site for a hostile customer is a bit shit. And that Unix support requires far less machine hands-on than Windows, so instead your time is taken playing handball (or spitball) with vendors. Yay.
(I wonder if he'll keep his home Ultra 5 running Solaris.)
I won't be getting a new PFY — another co-worker will be doing more of the Unix shitwork.
My non-pointy-haired boss realises my brane is turning into swiss cheese and is desperately looking around for ways to keep me interested. I have a foreboding that I will be adminning for oil companies forever.
