The sudden burst of photos is from how fatally easy Fotopic makes this stuff. I'm sure I could set up an instance of Gallery like everyone else, but Fotopic has that LiveJournal or Macintosh-like knack of being usable by computerphobes but geeky enough to fiddle with. And I like the format of the resulting galleries a lot more. Not perfect, but quite usable.

The images I'm putting up aren't the camera images. Flash pics from the gadget tend to be too dark, so I run them through some shonky scripts that expand the dynamic range, up the gamma and reduce the pics from 1600×1200 to 1200×900. This also reduces the typical size of a pic from 1 meg to 200K — you only get 250 meg on Fotopic.
