[livejournal.com profile] arkady is moved. At least one box unpacked! Cat litter tray (the thing she forgot) constructed from cardboard box! Five hours' sleep, for me at least, not for her 'cos she's too adrenalised! She's now back at St Albans cleaning the room properly! Then she will go

*SPLAT*

And Jon (the driver) gets all the *pint*s in the world for about a year. [livejournal.com profile] poggs, who helped pack, and [livejournal.com profile] fluffymark, who helped unpack, get not a few too.

Aaand exhale. So I'm in at work FAR too early. I could have wandered the streets, but it's grey and rainy and the coffee's cheaper here. And there's intarweb.

I've been a tad cautious about downloading SP2 becuase I gather it stops certain programs from running (I admit I've not looked too deeply into it yet) and with this added security problem I might not bother for some time yet.

I'm more concerned about the Winamp problem - I actually use that program on a regular basis! *sigh!*

Me too! It's been reminding me for a couple of days to download it but with my computer's history I don't want my computer/ADSL dying on me before my holiday, I need it to check trains and planes are running normally!

It was kinda fun to watch six brainless removal blokes manhandling the rest of the family's possessions, and us two quietly moving boxes in to the van whilst train-geeking.

And also good to meet Kit and Dani, and Sava and Jude - names to words in LJ.

I ran SP2 beta, and it broke a couple of minor things like Semagic, but nothing too major. Then again, I am ubergeek and was fully prepared for breakage.

Its one of those necessary evils, but not so necessary just now...

Sounds about right! ;-) Nevertheless, I think I'll wait a while for things to get sorted out before downloading it.

The Winamp hole is worrying, they don't mention it *anywhere* on their site, not even to say that a patch is in the works :-/

There's a thread in the Discussion forum about it. Basically, don't download skins from untrusted sources until the fix comes out (which should be some time today).

So skins that are listed on Winamp's site itself have been tested?

I'm not sure, they didn't say. However, if you want to be sure, just wait for the update to be released before downloading any new skins..

Weird.

Whenever I try "yum install sp2" it says it can't find the RPM.

Oh well.

It didn't break much on mine - restart TWICE after you install it, because that's when stuff says "um, hello, I'm not working", after the first restart it doesn't. It's easy to make firewall blocking exceptions for e.g. virus scanning programmes.

That said I haven't figured out why Photoshop broke yet (as in, I haven't tried to use it again since I turned the computer off last night so I don't know if it's still buggered). It went through a phase of not working in the same way last winter though, although I don't know if that's a good or bad sign.
