netpbm wisdom? Specifically, pnmconvol.
Feb. 17th, 2003 03:44 pmnetpbm is just the ticket for automating the processing of the Metric Shitload™ of photos the hungry bastard machine generates, and I anticipate much geeky fun with it. However, I'm having trouble finding user information, hints and tips, mailing lists and other such manifestations of community concerning it. Which quite surprises me, given that netpbm was started in the late '80s. No supporting community for a toy collection such as this?
What I'm specifically after right now is stuff on pnmconvol. The first zillion Google hits are the man page, and the example in said page isn't working for me. It's probably just me.
(I'm aiming to first automate sharpening, then get into playing around with whatever else it can do. Convolution matrices should provide all manner of geeky entertainment.)
If you have a digital camera and you can work Unix, you really do want to get heavily into netpbm.
Update, 4:11pm: Of course it's just me. The first line of the man page says the convolution matrix is a .pnm as well, not an ASCII file like I was trying to use. Duh. (Except as per the plain version of the specification, of course!)
