We need to shift the mattress ASAP. We need help with this - does anyone have a car (it's 6'×6'6", but we can tie it to most things), and are you free an evening this weeK? To go from Hendon to Walthamstow. Email me (fun[AT]velvet.net) or call or text me. Please to help!
Book pr0n with arkady and
ali_anarres last night.
arkady is playing with FreeBSD, but is discovering that the Handbook,
well-written though it is, is basically intended to tell people who already know a bit
of Unix how to do things the FreeBSD way. So we were after the level below
that. The book she eventually purchased was SAMS
Teach Yourself FreeBSD in 24 Hours, which is aimed at someone who
knows Windows reasonably well but is new to Unix. Just the ticket. It also
covers KDE (though not Gnome, oddly enough).
ali_anarres and I
decided the contents
looked the right sort of thing, and bits
of the book we opened at random
seemed sensible and well-written. £22 at Borders, not too bad. (Though
it's £15.39 through Amazon as I
write this.)
Ali was also seduced by the Harry Potter displays and plans to be queueing at midnight Friday in full costume. Rose too. Both Slytherin, of course. "Harry very carefully read the manual - four times - because Snape would cut off his breathing privs if he asked him a question that the manual could answer ..."
