The garden is unkept and in bloom.

They admitted they couldn't think of anything to do with me for four weeks, so I left for the last time this afternoon. I am on fully paid gardening leave until I start the new job on Monday 11th October.

My new immediate boss was very upset and confused. I tried to get across that it's not about him. He's really good, actually. It's basically all the stuff that came before him. And the fucker of a commute, of course. And that I was indeed provably underpaid. But I suspect I was his first minion ever, so he's taking it hard. Not that this is ultimately my problem.

It is time to party. I will go to Electric Dreams at last — duranorak, up for a date? disastrid is over later this month and we will go to Slimelight. I will get out to things with redcountess and arkady while I can. I will go to the Calling again.

(Oh my fucking God I need cloves as soon as possible. I'm getting desperate — anyone got Djarums for sale?)

It's a fairly drastic way to get a holiday, but I think it was needed.

The contract for the new job contains no egregious clauses or IP land grabs. I read it again to check. I'm quite pleased. Those of you who have gone reference for me will get an email soon.

Question: Arkady and I have a date tomorrow. Is anything interesting on in the big world? I know it's Wednesday, but this is London, dammit!
