Bless yourself.

We have a toilet again ... sort of. My guess that the floor was held in place only by a single giant mushroom wasn't far off. The entire floor has been removed, leaving only the concrete that was below. The toilet bowl is propped up on a pile of pieces from the previous floor. The entire extension appears to have been constructed by idiots, with a lack of damp coursing or membranes. The source of the damp may be as far forward as the kitchen, and tracing and fixing it all properly would take two to three weeks' work, during which time the house would be uninhabitable. I can't tell you how happy we are with this.
Visited naughtypixie and
juliann's on Saturday. We grabbed a mirrors G4, a 22" Cinema Display, a huge bag of books, two of fabric and a trolley. Desktop storage, 19" pivot LCD, daybulb desk lamp, air purifier, several bookshelves and a stack of CDs to come. 'Cos just what we need is more STUFF.
The FUCKING CAT managed a perfectly-aimed accidental leap onto the TiBook sufficient to cleanly snap both the screen hinges. ARGH. So reviving this nightmarish-to-open device will require a good pair of hinges. Anyone got a 15" TiBook that's dead and worthless bar the screen hinges? Failing that there's eBay.
I've transplanted the keyboard and trackpad from the Compaq N410c with the dead motherboard to the N410c which works except for Freda pouring milk into the keyboard and trackpad. (Compaqs are a zillion times easier to work on than PowerBooks.) Also found a 512MB SODIMM, so it's now got 768MB. redcountess will be using that until she borrows
secretlondon's surplus MSI Wind on Wednesday. Freda is watching telly on
arkady's Dell C610 until then.
I'm off work this week in honour of Freda's birthday tomorrow. The puking and shitting (apparently viral gastro that's been going around locally) stopped on Saturday and she's back to full pickle. Having slept much of yesterday and today, it's clear I also needed the rest. Now to get out of the house at least once or twice this week.
