The girls have moved.

The agent has (a) verbally agreed it won't be possible to move back into this place (b) said he's not touched our rent this month and (c) started shopping us around his fellow estate agents saying we're ace tenants (because we're not pik downmarket trash, we paid the rent on time and we didn't smash the place up). Now we just need all that in a form other than verbally. Liz will try to get a confirmation email out of him today.

(He's a businessman. He realises he's never getting his share of this lease again, so his interest is to escape with a clean reputation. And if he had a flat going himself, I'm sure he'd have suggested it.)

(c) is very promising news indeed. redcountess and arkady even looked at a place he pointed us at yesterday, literally around the corner. It's a single bedroom, making me suspect we'd kill each other with axes, but Liz and Arkady both say it's utterly lovely. I'll have a look on Saturday. There's a number of other prospects too. My boss has also said I can have a few days off when I need it, which I will.

We got our flat clean and it promptly self-destructed. There's a message in that.
