There's a DorkBot on tonight, this time at Limehouse Town Hall rather than State 51. Note that Streetmap lies when you put the postcode in — Limehouse really is the closest station. [livejournal.com profile] redcountess and I aim to be attending.

[livejournal.com profile] arkady's girlie rat Andromeda died on the operating table this morning — metastasised cancer.

Cabin fever is creeping up on us. I suspect HomeLet were dragging their heels, as Liz pinging the agent about the reference checking suddenly generated an email to my HR person. We'd better be able to move this weekend. I've booked Friday and Monday off.

This means I need to get a lot achieved at work before then, so I don't have twice the pile of crap on my desk Tuesday. I got two NetApp clusters to snapmirror, to fail over properly and to not take out the Oracle instance using their file shares. This afternoon I installed some HP monitoring rubbish on one of the Oracle servers in question. Next up is some Veritas cluster rubbish and a homegrown monitoring script. And getting the rest of the monitoring on the Oracle server working.

I suspect I'll need another holiday after this. [livejournal.com profile] redcountess and [livejournal.com profile] arkady could do with holidays too.

Sad.

Please pass my condolences on to Arkady for her loss. I've been through that exact situation more times than I care to think about. My little darlings all seemed to go too soon, and in ways that seemed vastly disproportionate to their loving nature and small size.

I understand the geek speak. Hee hee hee. I should point out that I am sleep deprived and still at work, therefore in a silly mood. Tomorrow, I start working with IBM and Logica!

You will probably be at best disappointed and at worst horrified to hear this is the first time I've been able to identify a lyric in your subject line.

Good luck with the new flat.

'HP monitoring rubbish'?

Is this the OpenCompleteWasteOfMoneyView rubbish or the gugna that comes with HP-UX and opens odd ports?

Say there

Any chance you could upload your snaps from Friday? I don't have a single one of myself and the B-movie lovelies ...

The only thing I understood in your penultimate paragraph was something about monitoring Harry Potter.

Gah! Oracle via NetApp?!?

Please tell me this is iSCSI, not NFS...

That sounds interesting!

I only have the original vinyl version of Drunk on the Pope's Blood.

It doesn't seem to be readily available, but I'll watch out for it. Ooh, I see my vinyl copy is going for up to $65 on GEMM though! I'd never part with it, but it's kind of nice to know. :)

It's not been reissued as Live 1982 has it? Because I recognise all the tracks on that.
