Today's haul: not one but two Kevyn Aucoin books (Making Faces and Face Forward[livejournal.com profile] redcountess evidently thinks I should tart up and get out more), a cigarette tin, the 2005 Gil Elvgren calendar and (from Liz's mum) the 2005 Far Side diary. Liz got a Nightmare Before Christmas bag and T-shirt, a garnet bracelet, a head massager, Monstrous Regiment by Terry Pratchett, Lush "Happy For SAD" shower gel and from her mum the first series of M*A*S*H on DVD and It's A Wonderful Life on VHS. And (from me) Sex Pistols and Judas Priest badges in her red stripy stocking.

We have spent the day doing Bugger-All. Liz has been Wikifiddling. I have been staring into space and drooling. Phone calls from the parents and to [livejournal.com profile] arkady.

I'm currently using Chatzilla for IRC. It sucks, but not in such a way that I want to bang the developer's head against some handy concrete. Mostly it sucks in that I'm using trunk versions of Firefox. I suppose I could run the Mozilla suite (as stable as a remarkably stable thing) separately just for the IRC function ...

Dinner involved preparing a Sainsbury's organic chicken. Thankfully it had (a) defrosted and (b) been hollowed out. Mostly. Discovering we didn't have any foil was quite special, though the corner shop was open for people like me. When we actually get to eat it is up in the air — it appears the numbers on the temperature control are largely fictional, so it's been in three hours and still isn't cooked. I can't tell you how pleased we are.

For some reason LJ isn't letting me set what icon a post uses. Is this happening to anyone else?

Update: Chicken cooked at last, and a nice phone call from [livejournal.com profile] webcowgirl. I think the spirit of Christmas is having eaten far too much and sitting in front of the telly.
