Still here. It's far too early to be up on a Sunday after going to bed at 3:30am.

Wednesday, [livejournal.com profile] arkady and I went to the Dev where [livejournal.com profile] ravenstoker had lured the vampire fans. Velvet drop cloths on the tables, people nicely overdressed. And they rented lots of beer. Arkady said it was like the Dev when she started going there. And boy did she do the hard sell on the dolls. Every penny spent that night should count as a deduction.

Thursday I had an interview (software field engineer consultant ... can't even hit anything with a hammer) with the most nervous interviewer ever. It seemed to go well.

The rest of the week has been quiet domestication with [livejournal.com profile] redcountess. Pretty nice.

Yesterday I tackled the mould monster in the bathroom. There's a plastic panel in front of the bathtub. I took it off. The concrete underneath was furry. (And the Internet has taught us what a bad thing furries are.) Ew. During the crap renovations, the owner had attempted to seal the panel in place with dodgy rubber cement, which had of course almost entirely shrivelled away. But had it been sealed in place, it would have been perfect: a place for water to pool, no way for it to evaporate, and not actually blocking the mould stench. Worse than useless. How wonderfully rental! Today I must attack it with bleach.

I've also been trying to catch up with some severely backed up nerdy Judge Dredd work. Tedious, depressing and icky. But I do think a suitable result is achievable on this one. Possibly I've read too much Groklaw.

I think my early morning crack is running out and I might go back to bed. Now that Liz is awake, of course. What a good idea.

Dettol make a Mould and Mildew Spray which is very good for tackling unwanted furriness. And also unwanted 'having a lining to your lungs', so make sure there's good ventilation!

Mould monsters? In the house I lived in when at Bristol, we discovered a large growth hiding in the corner where the kitchen overlooked the living room. It wasn't there when we moved in, but was there a few months later. At about the same time, the dishwasher stopped completing its cycle, instead giving up with a couple of inches of water in the bottom.

Removing the mould was simple enough, but there was some head-scratching over the dishwasher. Before calling the landlord to have it replaced we took a look at the plumbing. The drain hose was connected to the waste water pipe using one of those tapered hose->thread adapter dealies; our illustrious landlord had neglected to cut this to length, which meant the tapered bit still had its solid end intact. The dirty water, unable to get past this obstacle, was forcing its way past the blockage, running down the outside of the hose and pooling behind the cabinet. Nice.

Far too early for me to be up too, hence the rambling :-/

Must be tired...I mis-read that as "good for tackling unwanted furries". Spray 'em with whatever you want, just keep the furries away from me... ;)

bleach is a good fix, but for lasting prevention, get a good fungicide type product. you spray them on and leave them to dry, and they *claim* to stop future growth.

If only all such disputes could be solved with a judicious (ahem) application of the LawGiver . . .
