I like my new laptop very much lots indeed. It needs a name, though. My desktop is called red, formerly known as diva. I don't want to call this thing drag. The old laptop is bimbette (an old IRC name ... I got even better wannacybers than I do using "Diva"), but I don't want to steal its name from it. [livejournal.com profile] redcountess and [livejournal.com profile] arkady agree it's female.

[Poll #542209]

Explain your reasoning below.

I have yet to Ubuntu it 'cos we can't find the live CD and I don't want to just trash it. I fear I'm making Windows 2000 usable by long practice. All the software I use is the same, after all. (sigh)

Update: Found Ubuntu live CD. I expect everything to work except the (proprietary) wifi card. I'll let you know.

Update 2: And now editing this post from it. You know what comes next ... once I have a name!

I have a recent (5.04) pair of Ubuntu CDs should you be aware at some point that we will be in mutually-adjacent vicinity

I have a machine named 'Tart' and it has done well by me (I had a pastry theme going on) - and the name seems appropriate

"Eve", if you plan on multi-booting. I do, my machine is already named "Sybil".

Sounds like you need an anagram generator (http://www.wordsmith.org/anagram/) again.

Friend of mine has a desktop named this, which seems silly.

I mean, clearly, you want the dancer on your lap, right?

Everything should be called Gema ~gema. Except for gema, which is different.

it's what Penn of Penn and Teller named his daughter.
And it's the bestest name EVER.

If you drop the Us out of ubuntu, you have bnt, so bint is appropriate.
