  • "The tech laughed in his face ... The supervisor laughed in his face too ... The manager laughed in his face and told him to go ahead."

[livejournal.com profile] arkady has a job! She is to be a PFY at a web services company in W1, starting today. Last night we celebrated the company's good taste. Caffeine at Borders near Oxford Circus with [livejournal.com profile] karen2205 (showing off her shiny new IBM Thinkpad R50e), [livejournal.com profile] topbit (who looks just like his South Park icon), [livejournal.com profile] neonchameleon and [livejournal.com profile] galliana, dinner at Wagamama (joined by [livejournal.com profile] hairyears) and pintage at the Oakdale Arms (with mandatory geekage over MP3 jukeboxes and Discworld beer with [livejournal.com profile] timeplease).

This morning I packed her off to her first day at kindy nice and early, thankfully making allowances for e.g. the person who fell ill on our train, delaying it fifteen minutes.

Others have heralded today as being an autumn's day at last. I am still sweating buckets on the Tube, sitting at my desk at work with the fan on and wishing I could come to work in shorts or a miniskirt. I THOUGHT THIS COUNTRY WAS SUPPOSED TO BE COLD.

I, apparently, resemble that remark. But with less facial blood, and, until I get bored, more chin hair.

Damn, but those sound good. I don't think they'd travel well though.

That's the one. Not an official pub thing; they were given to me as a present.

Glad you liked them - my company make them and it is always nice to hear that people have enjoyed finding, if not tasting the Discworld beers we make.

The problem we have - some people seem intent on keeping them forever and not drinking them :-(.
