Over the weekend we went to Derbyshire for [livejournal.com profile] tals' funeral and wake. Full writeup to follow. I spent yesterday in bed utterly drained. Tonight's cleaning frenzy is going to be special.

[livejournal.com profile] redcountess got the G4 to triple-boot Mac OS X, Mac OS 9 and Ubuntu. I am pleased to report that the Epson RX620 photo printer works flawlessly under Ubuntu. I like this toy more and more. Liz also scored an ADC-to-DVI connector on eBay, so we can plug in the Mac and the Windows FreeBSD 6 box.

My new boots should be in by now, just in time for this Friday's B-Movie (and [livejournal.com profile] arkady has what will become a Christine dress!), as should my relined leather jacket. I really ought to give Future Designs a call.

I feel a deep shortage of crack in my soul. SEND MORE DRUGS.

Yay for boots!

Drugs I don't have - except for Sinutab and that's not terribly exotic - but I can give you a cleavage icon if that helps. :)

Would I intensely regret asking what a Christine dress is?

You will immediately have noticed, of course, that I have not at this point gone so far as to ask what one is, but only whether the knowledge would be traumatic.

I thought I'd better avoid all possibility of confusion on that score.

Meh. I probably really should make some sort of effort to fit in with the theme and be all Operaey. But I like my black satin gowny thing. Wanna wear the gowny thing!

So no. I'm afraid I'm not doing the theme this month.

Christine is the ingenue/prodigy from Phantom of the Opera, who wore quite a few nice frocks :-)

Ah. Excellent. Hopefully it'll work suitably well.

I shan't be doing the theme either - I had wanted to dress in a red gown a la Carlotta, but with a funeral and a flat inspection the week before, that was too difficult to organise.

How are you finding FreeBeard 6? Is it any better than 5?

I'd be interested to hear how you get on with it. I've got a hosted machine that has been rotting away on 4.11 for longer than I'd like. 5 was almost enough to make me think about going back to OpenBSD.
