I now have the B-Movie shots serving as test data on a TEMPORARY Coppermine installation, and it appears to do most things I want. The URLs still suck, but [livejournal.com profile] loom kindly pointed out the bit of PHP to hack on to fiddle the click-on-the-picture URL, and I'll probably get it right soon. Comment facility looks good too. Tell me what you think. Click links, rate things, comment, try to break it, whatever.

[livejournal.com profile] arkady and I got a pile of pics at the Dev on Friday, including a frighteningly blonde [livejournal.com profile] allezbleu. This is frightening because with that hair and pinstripe, she looks like a normal businesswoman. Modulo facial piercings and sxxy deth chyk cleavage. Yesterday and today were spent pottering around the house with [livejournal.com profile] redcountess. We shifted the excess Ikea LACK coffee table (in perfect unassembled condition, we just grossly underestimated space) to the hall. Anyone who wants it, it's yours free if you'll TAKE THE DAMN THING AWAY. We've also started on cleaning the bedroom properly.

It appears many assumptions we made about how to deal with the world's biggest wiki were incorrect. Check these graphs. (This probably won't mean a lot to most of you.)

Once I've moved, I'll see if I can use the coffee table.

I don't really understand the wikipedia editor thingy nor a lot of your discussion. However, from a maths point of view, it would have been interesting to see a log-log plot. I am guessing the distribution of editors/article would be heavy-tailed -- this could arise from the scale-free linkage of the wikipedia article links. The highly linked articles would attract the attention of casual browsers more and therefore they decide to be editors. [Assuming you moved about the graph of wikipedia at random by clicking links at random and pay no attention to what articles actually contain -- you would spend much more time at the George W Bush page than at a page related to a specific collectable playing card simply because there are many more links into the GWB page. If you then assume that an editor decides to be an editor for a particular page at random with no regard for content just by picking the page they happened to be on at the time then you might get a distribution something like that.]

Actually, interesting model that -- I'd have to spend some time doing the maths of it but it might be worth writing up.

Look what Wiki (http://kirsta.arafel.org.uk/wiki/index.php/Main_Page) is making our local satirists do!
