I have just bought a replacement laptop — another N410c, the 1.2GHz this time, for £238.53 including shipping and VAT. I bid with about ten seconds to go. I assume it'll be about a week.

I think my body decided I was about to stop work so now was an ideal time to fall ill. I've spent the day in bed having what redcountess calls Boy Flu, i.e. I feel like crap, cough up slime and whine a lot. The job interview has been moved to Friday. I'll probably take tomorrow off too and do my damnedest to get in for the last two days. *ka-ching*!

arkady is back! Liz and Arkady have been in a babbling doll frenzy since she walked in the door.

I looove my photo printer. Notice how well it did at A4 size even with a 2 megapixel image - you can only see JPEG artifacts if you look very closely and know what you're looking for. I shall see who else I can bestow the gift of large prints upon.

I'd pay any amount of money and do whatever unspeakable thing you'd care to mention to get my two to get along with each other well enough to participate in any sort of babbling frenzy.

Is there some particular elder god I should be sacrificing something to? I'm prepared to do just about anything short of sawing off my own penis here, something I'm guessing neither would approve of anyway...

Liz and I knew each other and were friends several months before I became Diva's other Other, if you see what I mean. I was Best Man at their wedding, which I guess helps - as does the fact that at heart, I'm not the jealous type at all.

It was me who got Liz into dolls in the first place, too, which might also have something to do with it!

I think it comes down to whether they are actually poly themselves, or whether they're actually two mono people sharing a poly person. In the latter case, is it their first experience of a poly relationship? If they feel there's some sort of rivalry ongoing for your affections, that could well be contributing; it's hard to be friends with someone you consider to be a rival.

I have also been looking at laptops on ebay, my precious not yet 2 year old acer decided to have USB failure, which nearly resulted in my heart failure. Acer didn't like being messed with by dave to see what problem was and nearly died. Thinking its probaly cheaper to buy ebay bargin than let someone fix it, Dave tried everything.

Yeah. The catch is when you buy something and it dies soon after! Makes you want to buy new ... What sort of thing you looking at?

I find for working on them, Compaqs are fantastic. Trouble is when you get to the stage where it says "Replace system board" and you go "uh, yeah, right." But there are some nice and quite robust machines.

To give you an idea, anything up to about Pentium III - 1 GHz, there are good ones up to 200 quid. Anything up to P III 500MHz, good ones up to 100 quid. I've been doing eBay by searching on 1p links ;-)
