With our pile of gadgets, we have crap to give away. You fetch.

• Macintosh Performa 5200, officially one of the worst Macs ever made and would suit an obsessive Apple collector. We learnt a lot from it and it was good fun as a curiosity. The side panel has been cracked by an inadvertent chair wheel, but it works fine (FSVO) and runs Mac OS 9 (which includes a pile of workarounds for the complete crapness of the hardware) and has Mozilla 1.3.1, the last version for Mac OS 9 and some other software. It's an all-in-one design (hence iTurd) and has a TV output. This came from lproven — Liam, you get first dibs if you want it back; Roger Burton-West indicated an interest but changed his mind. To androktone if she can transport it!

• Ronin DVD player, two remotes, stuck tray door, region-free. Quite nice; one level above the semidisposable DVD players found in supermarkets we replaced it with. If you can get the door to work, you get quite a nice DVD. Ideal for a geek who wants something to fiddle with and/or could do with a second DVD player. To serpentstar!

• Freeview box, Goodmans GB-30, with remote and cables. Works perfectly (has had the firmware upgrade), we have Sky so don't need it. hiddenpaw, Arkady says you were interested in getting Freeview, so you get first dibs. To hiddenpaw!

I'll put this on give_stuff_away in a few days, but you lot get first go. We'll probably have a pile of household stuff to sell at low secondhand prices when we move in a couple of months.

If hiddenpaw doesn't take up the Freeview box, I'd be up for it too. But I should just splash out the 30-odd quid it would cost down Dixons I guess (plus fee for new ariel).

I would indeed Love that freeview box. When Would be convinient for me to pop over and collect it. It is quite likely I will beleaving London for the countryside next week and Very busy this coming weekend, but other than that my time is free all week.

Would quite like the DVD player, as ours is ancient and cranky. Not sure if it'd be worth the postage to send it up from London though, even by the cheapest route... any idea how much it weighs?

You, sir, have money! They're in supermarkets now ... not quite as cheap as DVD players, but on the same downward spiral. They'll be with boxes of cereal in three months.

It's yours! Note the bit about the non-working tray and/or door ... if you can fix that, it should work. You is still a po' gamewriter, so I'll check into shipping ... you still live here?

Yep! In London, certainly, the reception is good here. If your UHF reception is good, your Freeview reception should be - they usually stick it on the same transmitter towers.

Freeview boxes are approximately free with boxes of cereal these days ... they've hit the £30 mark and falling.

Not yet! Note that it is fully functional ... for a while we just had it sitting there on the desk, being a large and inefficient clock (it being the only machine in the house on NTP, synced to Apple's NTP server). Note also that you won't be able to carry this one on the tube and train — it will take a car to lug it. Contact details, at your leisure.

It looks like I will be in north London Tommorow (helping Chewie load up the boat) So I'll try to make it over to you for the free view box after if that's OK with you. I'll text you when I know what sort of time to see if your about. ( I won't be online between now and then as I still don't have my new home plumbed in to the net yet)
