Still unemployed, but job interviews appear to be happening. Good. Still unwell, which is PISSING ME OFF. I actually glanced at my LJ friends list today, but keep reminding me of important news. Chatted to [livejournal.com profile] narnee this evening, who has been having a sucky time; I didn't outdo her with "I can't smoke any more", but it was a good try.

Camera dude is now unsuspended, but I phoned him today and he was evasive as fuck. I have formally notified eBay I want out of the deal, and it should help that I did say so in my first communication (while he was still suspended), which they answered. In any case, we'd rather risk our first negative than send a hundred and twenty-six quid off into the aether. In the meantime, I successfully stalked and captured this, which I'm sure will gain at least some of the [livejournal.com profile] wintrmute seal of approval (even if it barrels more than the fatter 500). w00t!

half of work refused to click the cancer_porn link. these are people who make analogies between poorly written code and child rape and murder. I am impressed.

Hey, if you're interested in picking a fight with Outer Usenet, I have just the place for you (http://groups.google.com/group/alt.fan.cecil-adams/browse_frm/thread/6015f63f6b497542/ac127876e280fcab).

You know, I'm going to get the money to come out to the UK just to beat you senseless for the cancer porn article...and then I'm buying your drinks for the rest of the night. It's not just "not-mindsafe", but it's "not safe for lunatics with broken ribs". When the neighbors are complaining about the noise of my rib-ends clacking against each other drowning out my insane laughter, this should tell you something.

Oh, man, I love open-source project logo design projects. Especially for projects that aren't quite mainstream enough to get anything from designers who would usually charge for work. I hoped to link to a bunch of gloriously bad galleries, but the big ones I remember (FreeBSD, Debian, KDE) but they don't seem to have all the submissions available any more.

DHCP-assigned optonline.net address in north Jersey (ours, not yours) - that's as close as I can get, sorry.

Apropos of none of this: I'm sure this has already found its way to you, but if you haven't had supper yet, please consider the clam (http://community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/6163683.html).

I think I'll keep all my cameras.

My new big one arrived today -- photos of it took in my latest LJ entries.

I think it would be worth slightly toning down the comment at the start to imply that some of them stand as a warning to others - not all are as appalling as the worst...

The best part about the FreeBSD one is that they fired Beastie so that they could avoid the problems a devil might cause in America, and replaced it with what is obviously a stylized devil.

The new one sure is shiny and completely resistant to being printed in spot color, though, innit?

OpenBSD's CD covers other than 2.(5? 6?) have always been fine testaments to the wonders of subtle metaphor. (And then there's this gem (http://malison.org/cpg132/albums/userpics/10001/openbsd_defaced_poster.jpg)!)

By the way, I put in a word for you with an online friend of mine to try to get you a conslutting gig setting up a wiki on a corporate intranet. I don't know where they're located other than in England somewhere but I figured that perhaps you could telecommute. Probably nothing will come of it, but who knows?
