I have just filled out a VistaPrint survey and can now obtain a "free" rubber stamp for my trouble. One of ten standard designs, three lines of text. Thing is, I have no idea what to use it for — we're moving house soon, so an address stamp is useless. Photo site? Wikipedia? Xenu? Basilisk? Your suggestions are welcomed, practical or not.

Update: Stamp ordered. Muwahahaha. The "free" offer does not include shipping, which came to £3.52 including VAT. Which is still cheaper than everywhere else, I think.

If it's anything like my new place, "Not Known at This Address" would be a good start.

(I've written that or "No forwarding address" on over 200 letters since I moved in).

I was going to suggest this as well. I've been in this place since June and the letters keep coming...

"Return to sender
Not at this address"
is possibly the most useful thing you can get on a rubber stamp when you're about to move house.

I got cheap labels printed instead that say that, and I put them OVER the address (but not the name).

Reduces the number of them that come back by quite a bit. :)

Yup. :) (I bought mine mostly because I was buying something else from them at the time and they were Stupidly Cheap.)

I'm probably going to be in London at the end of the month for the Give It A Name festival thing (MCR are playing, of course)- shall we plan to try to meet up? (Maybe on the sunday, so I can wear my boots to the gig before they go back to try to get repaired? Though if I have someplace to sleep I could come in on the Friday instead.)

I think you should ignore practicalities and get one you can stamp people with. It would need to have very little text on it so that it remained legible in usual conditions. As you have three lines I'd say three words would give maximum legibility.

Off the top of my head:

Diva camera whore
Not a goth
Will fuck anything
Not safe for work

I agree - I lack inspiration. Return to sender could possibly have dual use but it's a tad rude to stamp people with it.

Although "Return to Sender -- Not At This Address" would be most practical, the first thing that came to mind was "Nice Boots, Wanna Fuck?"

I have no clue, but be careful with vista print, their "free" offers aren't always as free as they look, and [livejournal.com profile] forest got signed up for some kind of monthly thing at a tenner a month by some sneakiness on their part when he placed an order. Double check any small prints (which I'm sure you do, but its rare for us to get caught out so I'm spreading the word when vistaprint get mentioned).

I'd be plumping for "GAY!" though just an advert for a website that you could stamp on flyers / posters / etc could be neat.

or a thankyou stamp, for christmas!

your photosite, so people could see the URL to go see their pic after a night out?

something entertaining to stamp on everyone at whitby?

have I mentioned "GAY!"?

a short URL for a site which very simply explains who you are and links to all your other sites, that you could stamp on practically anything?

"GAY!"?

:)
