redcountess and I are sitting here eating a roast dinner of silverside beef, potatoes, parsnips, peas, carrots and miniature Yorkshire puddings, prepared by the wondrous arkady, who actually enjoys cooking. And some people are sceptical of the advantages of polyamory.

lucybond and cavalorn were going to visit today (down for jon_the_id's wedding), but Liz was far too unwell to cope with visitors. However, Arkady and I (mostly her) got the house tidied in any case. Arkady also spent all day making cakes. (With dolly assistance.)

I have been eBay whoring and landed nice deals on three 2MP Ixus cameras, two of which work. (The third is suffering the dreaded E18 error and I'll be trying my hand at fixing it myself.) The pixel count is lower than modern fashion, but the optics are famously nice (see my Whitby April 2003 pics: Thu, Fri day, Fri eve, Sat, Sun-Tue). I'll be offering them to you lot before eBay, if anyone's after a fantastically nice little camera.

I still have no idea what to ask for on my free rubber stamp. Update: Yes I have.

You remember the camera I had at April 2003 Whitby? One of those. Small, really good optics for its size and functionality. They're really nice and versatile.

What are they like in terms of Mac support/USB Mass Storage device support?

They don't do umass because Canon suck. However, MacOS X Image Viewer loads pictures from them just fine, as does libgphoto2, and hence gtkam and digikam, on Unix (I'm using digikam to get pics off my Ixus 50). There's also the option of using a CF card reader (yep, this lot use CF).

Although my Mac does tend to struggle if I try to throw more than Firefox and Thunderbird at it at the same time! I really need to get a faster one at some point I think.

Have you got it dual-booting with Ubuntu? I'm so glad Liz set that up on our G4. It's interesting the comparison in doing the same things cross-platform. Ubuntu is a far preferable platform for DVD-ROM burning, for instance.

I probably should switch to Camino, but habit means I stick with Firefox.

Besides using Thunderbird, means I can change to Unix/Linux etc and transfer my mail settings etc without changing/importing etc.

No, it just runs OS X 10.2.

I couldn't get Ubuntu to boot on it.
