I assumed you'd done this online or by phone, until I read [livejournal.com profile] redcountess's post...

Bah -- you have a cool MP

From his website:

Neil Gerrard MP (any relation?)

What they say:

"Quietly rebellious idealist" .. Andrew Roth, Parliamentary Profiles
"Voluble lefty" ...... Paul Routledge, New Statesman
"Independent minded" .. Financial Times
"*!&*%!**!*!*" .... Labour Whips in Parliament

If Hugh Bailey our MP had quotes like that they would all say

"Do you want me to lick harder Mr Blair?"

Hey, everyone loves dinosaurs. I'm sure Scott Adams said that once.

I think Graham Stringer MP is similar. Former head of Manchester Council and very much Old Labour, but not beligerant with it. An idealist and also a very down to earth Mancunian. He grew up and went to school in his own constituancy, so he knows the area, it's people and it's issues intimately.

Similar here, massive majority. Certainly in the top 30 safest Labour seats.

Though I must ask, was the MP wearing any trousers?

Because you're nice and considerate.
Because you're civilized.
Because you don't wish to frighten children.

Beats the hell out of me. Carry on.

This is a good start to a political career. You should confront MPs in such garb as often as possible asking serious questions. You can be certain that they'll be paying attention.
