I got FFmpeg to do what I wanted, so have converted 37.1 megabytes of MJPEG to 3.9 meg of MPEG2 and uploaded it to pics.livejournal.com. Go on, hammer the crap outa their servers. (Save it to a file, it won't stream fast enough. QuickTime sucks too much to play it, but VLC works on the Mac.)

Works fine in VLC, and I played it in Xine, Mplayer and VLC on my Ubuntu laptop. QT so ain't all that sometimes.

Tried playing with Mplayer and got a wondrous array of pixelation but no kitty bubbles.

What the hell is VLC?
