This sort of weather is fine in a city that realises this sort of weather is a normal occurrence. London still appears predicated on the Thames freezing every winter.

Today I foolishly ventured out to get £75 for the gardener, then foolishly ventured out later to post people's eBay wins. I didn't get a picture of the gardener at work, thus spoiling my daily photoblogging record. Feh! The garden is much nicer now, front and back, and we actually have something in the compost bin. Life is so much nicer when you can solve this sort of problem by throwing some money at it.

This afternoon's thunderstorms seem to have become a bit of rain early tomorrow morning. Feh again!

It's nearly nine, I should start dinner. I fear this involves heat.

London when it's hot is a good excuse to become entirely nocturnal.

It was pretty unpleasant in the "frozen North" today. Must have been unbearable in the metropolis.

True about the garden. I much prefer paying someone else to do that sort of thing than doing it myself and nursing a sore back afterwards. The only problem is my gardener earns more per hour than I do. I have to keep curbing his enthusiasm for planning major landscaping projects.

The weather says it was 32 in London today, or 16/20 of an Arizona. In Cambridge we got 26, or 13/20 Arizonas.

It's 21.11 in Philadelphia. While we have had worse over Memorial Day, we've had a real spring this year and it won't be 29 until the end of the week. I have air-conditioning upstairs.

London public transport is evil in this weather. Had to get 5 buses today - hot and smelly makes all the usual bus hazards (drunks, weirdos, crying babies) so much less bareable.

I thought it would cost us around 100 quid, as he normally charges us 60 but today he also trimmed our side of the hedge and the bushes out the back. He's very good, RHS qualified IIRC, and reasonable with his rates. It's still a lot to pay, especially with D out of work, but with his back and my fibro, it wasn't going to get done without throwing money at it.

Which is the same set of reasons that I like L.A.'s weather but loathe Miami's. Btw, it's 23 here today ;)
