The lucky womb is arkady's; she is now coming up to ten weeks, so we finally feel comfortable to make a public announcement. She's had miscarriages before, so I've had to keep my damn fool mouth shut until now. ETA May. redcountess is clucky as anything over this one, and plans one herself next year if her health continues to improve.

In other news, cymrys was in a serious motorbike accident on Wednesday night, and died in hospital on Friday. arkady has had to rush off to Wales to look after yellowrocket and the kids, and will probably be there a while.

We had a similar thing with my first sprog, as I was sure I was pregnant just as a close family freind (and amazing glass artist) died of end-stage cancer. I was painting her toes purple just three weeks before, and giving foot rubs to make her feel more human. Joy and sadness seem to hang out together.

Many congratulations, and wishes for a safe and comfortable gestation. Kids with extra parents have more resources, you know, and that's a good thing.

It's fibromyalgia she's got, not lupus. (Though they're both in the pile marked "things the medical profession has no idea about.") They have no idea what causes either, but there's no evidence of heritability for either.

That was the diagnosis before, now it isn't. There's a whole pile of somewhat ill-defined autoimmune diseases that have no known cause and little treatment even for the symptoms and collectively cause arse-elbow dysphoria in the medical profession, who can't fix it so blame the patient wherever possible.
