Welcome to popular culture. I look forward to the day I too end up in slashdotpunk and not just in comics.
English Wikipedia finally did what all the other Wikipedias do and switched on rel=nofollow for external links, so they don't get a page rank bonus in Google. It seems to have hit its target. I love the whine of high-velocity spammers.
We have been approved for the house. Should the deal not evaporate between now and handing them a pile of cash, the lease will start February 3rd, so happy birthday to
redcountess! Tonight I repacked a pile of boxes into far fewer boxes and threw out lots. I can't tell you how enormously happy I was to find a stealth puddle of cat pee.
Work has been quiet as anything, but I've had plenty of Microsoft-Wikipedia fun. It hit the AP and is in a hundred newspapers around the world. Ahem. I invited the Microsoft guy who actually thought this was a good idea to participate on the talk page, so hopefully the article should suck less (it was a bit of a wasteland of anti-advocacy before). The Wikimedia Foundation also has a new paid communications officer, which may make our press a little less reactive and haphazard. Basically they need several people in each language who know their wiki, know the Foundation and have an overwhelming fear of not public speaking. Sadly I only exist on en: Wikipedia. *sigh*
p.s.: SNOW!!! And more tonight!
