House moved, cats moved, stuff moved, us moved. The new place is so much nicer than the old one, as well as much larger. Still a sea of boxes. I hired a car Saturday and spent the weekend driving back and forth with a Mondeo full of crap. (When hiring from Enterprise, always book on the website — it always says "available" even when there isn't a car free, so you too may get a free upgrade.) I ended the weekend with bulging arm muscles and a back that REALLY HATES me. eyeliner297 and Roger Burton West helped invaluably.

The gas was no good in this place too (aieee!) but it looks like the new landlord, who is much more clueful than the old one, got a dodgy gas installer and will be making a complaint to CORGI. (Electrical tape sealing the gas inlet on the stove? What a great idea!) We now have heat and by tomorrow should have a hob and oven.

We have phone (same as old number) but no DSL, which I really hope is on by the end of the week. redcountess is intermittently checking on dialup. Should have ISDN Wednesday morning.

I was sufficiently stressed by the move to be tempted to narnee's left-over Nicorettes. But chewing gum is evil.

I left a humorous inflatable spider in the rental car, and so had to bring it into work with me. I am disappointed to have received no funny looks whatsoever on the tube.

This coming weekend is my birthday. I'm thinking Betty Ford Clinic on Friday and drinkies at the Pembury Tavern on Saturday.

fluffymark is having his birthday party on the Saturday. This'll probably mean that most of the Pembury regulars (including the landlord) will be in Leytonstone instead. The normal Sunday gaming thing is planned there, and I think some chinese new year thing I got from another list..

I'm seriously tempted by the Betty Ford Clinic as it's local to me and I will be able to see loads of people..
