Ritual noise.
Apr. 13th, 2007 06:00 pmDon't buy a Lenovo laptop.
bmovie tonight! King's Cross is the nearest station — just come out of King's Cross Thameslink and cross the road instead of going around the corner.
Met
rosefox,
sinboy and
weegoddess for breakfast this morning. Authentic British grease, just the thing for tourists. I stopped in Camden on the way back and got tights and socks for this evening, some second-hand CDs and Skyshaper by Covenant (two-disc edition with the 42-minute noisewank). Nice album.
My camera tonight will be the Ixus 50 as usual; I'm also bringing the PowerShot A40, a card reader and a battery charger for
elevenwords.

Date: 2007-04-13 05:59 pm (UTC)Back when I was laptop shopping, Apple hadn't made the switch to Intel, so the powerbooks were comparatively underpowered. These days I might well have gone for one. With a US keyboard (don't like the UK return key shape).

Date: 2007-04-14 03:51 pm (UTC)My old personal laptop (which A. is using now) has had a multitude of horrible problems -- blue screening, CD+RW failures, bad memory, etc. Every time I send it back for repair, it inevitably takes them two or three tries to get it right, and they fuck up something else during the repair.
However, I've never paid a cent in shipping charges, I've always managed to get a human being on the phone within 5 minutes, and the turnaround time for repairs has been efficient and fast. Just not, well, good. (This is in the US)
The nice thing about Lenovo is that you get an ironclad, no-questions-asked 3-year warranty standard on every machine they sell. The bad news is that, if you happen to get a bum laptop, you wind up using it quite frequently. :(
