Calling the alt.gothic diaspora.

Convergence 13 appears to have been taken over by a herpes virus with a penis, in black. Not as bad as Cliff Low with C7, but anyway. So Mr C13 applies his efforts to engineering a gothapalooza for C14, falls flat on his face and whines like a little bitch. And holy gosh, half the alt.gothic diaspora is showing up back there!

I just thought you'd like to know. The initial thread was long enough to break Google Groups. Check your ISP doesn't still have an NNTP feed. And pop in and say hi. Anyone with alt.gothic as an LJ interest qualifies.

(a.c.g is tumbleweeds, but Sandro still posts movie reviews.)

I'm still drunk.
Isn't that wonderful?

Anyway, what did you warn us about, lo, so many years ago? I honestly can't recall.

Ah, drunk. I miss getting drunk.

What I warned about, if I remember correctly, is that bands at Convergence were a bad idea if you wanted the focus to be on a get-together, as opposed to a music festival.

I saw that every year the bands were becoming a bigger and bigger part of Convergence, and squeezing out the net.goth get-together part, turning it into Gothapalooza, and I warned people, but did they listen? Nope.

Of course, I had other reasons for disliking the bands being there. None of them were bands that *I* gave a crap about, and if I did want to go see bands, I could do that without traveling half way across the country to do it, and only spend on bands that I actually *liked*.

What I wanted was actually something more like a SF con, only net.goth oriented, with a dance with some DJ's in the evening for a few hours, and then room parities at night, and plenty of hanging out during the day.

There sure are _a lot_ of bands at C13.
