reddragdiva: (party)

Good Lord I rented a lot of bad lager at Betty Ford on Friday. The tango was fabulous fun and very energetic. Happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] ditzy_pole. The place was somewhat empty (party Harry Potter and partly the world drowning) but nevertheless filled with beautiful women. Took photos, which will be up one day. People sitting around reading a book in a nightclub are very silly, though the paired Emilys were appallingly cute. No-one attended in costume, sadly. There were spare Potters, so I got one for us. My personal opinion is that the epilogue is a hearty "fuck off" to the slashers.

The rest of the weekend was hangover and domesticity.

I have Perl training this week, starting tomorrow, and [livejournal.com profile] seph_hazard has birthday drinkies on Friday evening.

As opposed to the rest of the book, which is feeding lines to the slashers when it's not pretending to be classic fantasy books and sci-fi TV series.

I thought the epiloque was total fan service. I swear I could HEAR the spooge flying all over the world.

If she thinks a little thing like an epilogue is going to stop anyone... (Have not yet read the book. Not particularly excited about doing so.)

TO say nothing of the fact that there appears to be a brand new thriving community of slashers working hard BECAUSE of characters from the epilogue...

One of my friends, while reading the book, was keeping her lj updated with choice phrases. Seeing the list out of any context was rather amusing.

Which bits? I confess that I don't know very much European history to be able to spot it.

I'm waiting for the Harry/Dumbledore

If a writer expropriates common cultural icons and stereotypes, she can expect to have fans seize them back and fist fuck them.
