I have cleared a path to the front room, set up the desk with the printer and computer in there and moved the dining table into the dining room. We now eat at the table like a proper family. And I have a cave to hide and play bad music in. No bed yet.

arkady and redcountess are hard at work becoming dollie moguls. Arkady has a table to use the sewing machine on and is going for it big time. Liz plans to be her sweatshop labourer. I'm getting work done at work, and can tell you in detail just how and why setting up SSL on Apache blows rancid goats. Though I do enjoy creating self-signed certificates from Snake Oil, Inc.

My beloved Compaq Evo N410c laptop is dying horribly. The battery lasts six seconds (I counted) and it freezes up at random after a few minutes. I have to give back one of the work laptops (I have two ... evidently I'm polylaptopual as well) so we'll be one short soon. This is most annoying when we have NO spare cash.

Drinking with perverts is top stuff. Even if they stay dressed, a certain quantity of polyamorous bisexuals in one house will end up making LOTS of dates and thoroughly filling out their next few weeks.

My MP3 is filled with John Peel shows and sessions. May I particularly recommend the 1983 Festive Fifty, especially to the trad goths in the audience. It was a very good year.

If you're having a laptop emergency, I can probably scrape together and ship you most of an elderly something-or-other (Dell or Gateway) P3-500 lapdog that runs a stock Ubuntu passably well as a 'couch computer' for casual surfing. Pretty sure I have one or two of those in the pile. Finding an unUSAnian-compatible power supply would be your only major problem.

I actually have two N410c's here and a spare motherboard for the completely dead one (as opposed to the occasionally dead one). What I need to do is (a) find all the pieces (b) assemble them. Fortunately, I have my Cave to be Manly in.
