SBS appeared to have a docco on the creation of said font tonight.
I didn't watch long enough to find out.

I'd take their views on Helvetica more seriously if they could spell "prevalence".

For the most part, Helvetica is OK. It is essentially the second half of the 20th century in typographical form. Comic Sans, however, needs to die now.

If the documentary is titled "Helvetica", it is indeed excellent. It's not just about a font, but essentially about the aesthetic and cultural currents of the 20th century and now as seen through an ubiquitous typeface, and what it signified (the breath of fresh air that was crisp modernism vs. the stuffy old ways, oppressive corporate homogeneity, and then a reappreciation of its aesthetic qualities).

I'm skeptical about that Snark of the Day, it doesn't strike me as authentic. Still funny, but it feels like constructed funny.
