The lovely terrible little "MP4" player given me by steer is unwell. It's decided its file system is read-only. I'll need to find a replacement with a speaker to amuse Freda. It'll probably have to be another crappy "MP4" player just to get something tiny that does MP3 and Ogg. Though this is oddly tempting, even if a bit big and from Craplin. Rockbox 3 also installs on first-generation iPod Nanos.

Freda is now enjoying ... And Justice For All. I dug out two boxes of redcountess' CDs and will be ripping these to FLAC in due course. Freda likes actual CDs because they're shiny and colourful.

I keep telling arkady she needs to write a book just so she can write the bio. "Arkady has worked as a doll painter, author, artist, musician, singer, jeweller, Unix system administrator, postwoman, forklift driver, crate packer, cheese mover, silver service waitress, school dinner lady, hospital chef, rat breeder, civilian instructor in survival to Army cadets and controller on the London Underground District Line. She has three children, the youngest sixteen months. In her spare time, she wishes she had spare time. For some reason, people are intimidated by her."

The Metallica review -- top stuff -- and I nodded along with it. My instinct on first listen was to throw up a "hey, this isn't actually a steaming pile of dick" post, as well as to muse that it was rather like ...AJFA with actual, y'know, bass. It's going in the car for tomorrow's drive -- at the length it is, it'll probably last the entire trip down to London.

Liz is a fan and thought it was Metallica-by-numbers and gave it 3/5. I'm not a fan and thought it sounded good (Rubin) though the soloing got tedious. Freda loves it. Pick which is most likely to match you ;-p
