Reasons to upgrade to Ubuntu 8.10 beta: kernel 2.6.27 and PowerTop 1.10 means power down to 13.9 watts for four hours' battery life. XP on the same machine (Compaq 6710b) doing the same things still runs two. Amazing how usable a computer can be when you DON'T HAVE TO RUN AN ANTIVIRUS. Your mileage will vary, but I'm very pleased.
Freda has more teeth coming through and is exhausting. (Mind you, the slightest exertion is exhausting me lately.) Cbeebies calms her nicely though. Worth every penny of the licence fee.
The Fauves are the TISM of angst. "Happy Birthday IBM" is ridiculously catchy. The Clouds EPs are too goddamn quirky for their own good. Big Star live 1993 reliably crashes VLC 0.9.4.
