It does in fact see the drive on boot! However, usbmount works from udev events (isn't that deprecated?), so presumably the right event isn't auto-generated on boot. Possibly I can do something to add "HEY DUDE WHY DON'T YOU LOOK AT WHAT'S PLUGGED IN THAT YOU CAN ALREADY DAMN WELL SEE".
