Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining.

I forgot to note that arkady has a new hobby: stage crew. If you thought that was A you saw stage left at VNV Nation last Sunday, you were quite correct.

I am in bed ill, semi-coherent, occasionally delirious and very bored. Listening to lots of music, though headphones get annoying in very short order and I wish I knew where the shitty speakers were. All my old Psychophile CDs and live tracks — they were really quite good, weren't they. HTRK, who I will always call "Hatrack": slow dubby bass and guitar screeching. Old Fall and Church. Malcolm Mclaren Duck Rock, which stands up surprisingly well. The latter was after reading Ian Macleay's biography of him, which is awful. Terrible writing, strained allusions, comparing everything to the year 2010, lots of apparently new and interesting information but with no cites. Avoid.

Actually I was either stage right or backstage apart from when we were retrieving the support act's gear which was set up stage left. far stage left at Koko's is the sound desk but we left that to the bands & sound techs; I was mostly lugging gear plus helping with the lighting rig beforehand.

I'll be doing stage crew for Front 242 in December as well - plus I may well be doing a few Flag Productions gigs between now and then. But if the audience sees more than maybe a brief view of me then I'm probably doing something wrong! ;-)

And all of Art Of Noise - "Buffalo Gals" is largely them doing wacky shit and has much more to do with actual sampling than scratching off records. This, like Lexicon Of Love, may usefully be thought of as a pre-ZTT record. I read somewhere that offcuts from Duck Rock went to the first Art Of Noise album - which I'd thought was all offcuts from 90125 (another pre-ZTT record).

But then, it is inarguable that McLaren's actual talent was gathering talented people around him to do great things. That being an impresario's actual job.
