The TDF Windows build works on Windows. (It does not work on Linux run through Wine.)
The TDF Linux build should work on Linux.
The TDF Mac build should work on Mac.
Linux distro builds (including Ubuntu PPA builds) don't work for this.
If you're on Linux, compiling from source should work, using that autogen.sh line. It's complicated and trepidatious for someone who's never compiled something from source before, but relatively simple as such things go.
