... I am going to marnameow's and sbp's New Year's Buffy-Sushi-thing, with ladylilith and ali_anarres. Anyone else? We've bagged the crash space, so there.

The only remaining piece of work I have is to search the Sun sites for firmware upgrades, then point a clueless PC bunny in Aberdeen at them and tell him how to risk destroying an Ultra 10 in order to fix it. (Further ranting on said problem to come.) Then I can piss off home. Said upgrades are, of course, unfindable. Bah.

Liz goes back to Australia in two days. This sucks. Everyone will have to comfort me and buy me beer to alleviate the terrible angst. Good beer.

Update, 2:47pm: Patch 108606-28 found and applied. I so don't care if it works. (That it's the twenty-eighth revision of the patch is a bit of a worry.) Goodbye work, goodbye desk!

Update, 2:51pm: Just off to meet Liz in Camden. Gi's call/SMS if you are or will be around too.

Liz going back in two days does indeed suck. But look on the bright side of it, all going well she'll be back not long after she goes!

The normal routing for getting firmwire updates is to jump onto SunSolve (http://sunsolve.sun.com/) log in with a user which relates to a service contract and do a search with the string PROM within the patches.

Okay... so there was a period of LJ I didn't catch up with that seems to have been important. And what I now understand is that you're getting married? I *really* didn't figure you for the marrying kind. And what's to happen if you're in London and Liz is in Australia or are you going home?

Well, Liz and I have been going out for two years, on and off. And we somehow sustained the relationship for eight months apart. Then she came over and we decided we wanted to stay together. And because the Home Office are big m33n13s, we have to get married. But that's not a problem anyway. And besides, it gives me a chance to exercise my inner exceedingly boring bastard. She is returning to Australia, then applying for a fiancée visa and returning. See past entries in both LJs for details.
