reddragdivaIt was a reasonable start. The chairs suck - will have to do something about that - and my workstations are an Ultra 1 and a PIII-800 with 128 meg. (I foresee Mozilla and VNC being installed on a certain severely underutilised E450.) The coworkers seem okay so far. I have one week to suck all knowledge out of the consultant's brain and suddenly have everything be my problem ... oh joy!
Tomorrow morning, I will be conducting research into how, while proprietary software may be Evil, and FlexLM may suck, crufty custom licence managers suck even more. Particularly for crufty geophysics applications. Remember: the higher the ticket price, the crappier the program. Then, in the afternoon, I will be visiting head office and getting inducted. I'm sure it'll be dazzling.
Wednesday evening I will probably be moving house. This will suck stupendously. Anyone got a car and willing to help for petrol and beer?
